Two Home Remedies For Acne Worth Trying
I always get a little nervous when I write about home remedies for acne. The main reason is the word remedy means different things to different people. Some people think that it means their acne will be cured. In my dictionary, the word cured means completely taken care of and healed forever. To the extent of my acne knowledge, there is no "cure" for acne. There are however a plethora of remedies that can manage your acne.
Many people want to know about some of their options for managing acne with home products. There are a couple of reasons for this: (1)It is usually less expensive to use some sort of home remedy than prescribed treatments or store bought treatments. (2) Home treatments are often considered more natural and hence safer for the skin (although this isn't always the case-think toothpaste). Below are two remedies that are worth trying.
Home Acne Remedy 1 (Oatmeal)
Acne scars remain because the tissues are injured while treating the acne. In fact acne scarring is a natural process that has to happen after treatment. The scars decreases and disappear in many people but in some unlucky people the scars persists and looks as if hey are only becoming more prominent. Acne scars are as ugly as the acne and therefore people search for ways to remove them as soon as possible. If the acne is severe then the scar will also be the same. The deeper the incision or wound of the acne, the worse the scar will...Read Full Story
Prepare the oatmeal as you normally would, except for this time leave out all of the brown sugar. Yes I know it makes the oatmeal taste great, but having brown sugar all over your face just doesn't seem like it is going to help your acne. After the oatmeal is prepared, wait for it to cool. You don't want the oatmeal to be completely cold (get it to a lukewarm state). Once it is lukewarm apply it to your face. Let it stay on your face until the oatmeal starts trying on the outer edge (a few pieces might start falling off). This usually takes about 30 minutes or so. Then rinse the oatmeal off with warm water and dab dry your face.
Does it work? Some people swear by this method. I think it is a good method, but the downside is that it takes a long time to do it. Who wants to spend all that time making oatmeal, applying it to your face, wearing it around and then removing it? If you have a lot of time, then this is great method.
Home Acne Remedy 2 (Head and Shoulders H&S)
This second method is completely different than the first. You can apply Head & Shoulders while you are in the shower and it will probably take you less than a minute. Just lather up the H&S and apply it to the areas where you have acne. Rinse it off while you are in the shower and then dab your face dry when you get out. Some people claim that the Zinc in Head & Shoulders really helps with acne.
Oatmeal is the more natural way and H&S is the more pragmatic method. Both are home remedies for acne that are worth trying. I think one of the main benefits of both of these methods is that they help you remember not to touch your face (one of the biggest acne causers in my opinion).
